Four years after the gruesome murder of Babatunde Ìlòrí the late Elerewe of Owo Kingdom, Taiwo Abiodun writes out the names of those who murdered him
By this time of 12th December, Babatunde Ilori the late High Chief Elerewe of Owo Kingdom would have a coin called obol put into his mouth which he would pay as a fee to Charon who will ferry him through the rivers of Styx and Acheron which separates the living from the dead. Yes, from here he would leave the land of the living and join his ancestors in the land of the dead. That is if Elerewe were a Greek! . But he was not a Greek, he was an Owoian, native of Owo so therefore all burial rites would be perfectly performed according to Owo Custom and Tradition. And this rites would be traditionally performed as an High Chief according to Custom as part of the befitting burial for his status and position . In addition there would be a traditional rites exposing those who participated in his untimely death. So the suspects should either confess or run away or …..
The ugly memory of the incident is gory. The bride and wicked method of how he was killed is disgusting, nauseating and bitter, according to eye witness accounts who escaped , he said the late Elerewe was shot in the eyes with a gun and instead of bullets, nails were inserted into the gun, since they believed the late chief was powerful and that no bullets can penetrate into his body as he had spiritually and traditionally fortified himself .Therefore his killers prepared fully for him.
WHO KILLED ELEREWE
Are the killers not from the terrestrial world? Are they from the Sky or Moon?. Are they from the land of the spirit? Your guess is as good as mine. They know themselves. Wàláítàlaì. Yes! they know them .We know them. His killers were not outsiders.
His killers were not strangers . They are walking freely today. They are consulting their Juju customers while their customers are feeding fat on them.
If some of these suspects appear at his burial ceremony, they come with reasons : They will want original mourners to see them and convince them that they did not have hands in his death as they have been denying before . Secondly ,they will want to be sure he is buried at last since his spirit has been tormenting them for the past four years. Thirdly they will come to seek forgiveness and probably might put jazz on so that his spirit will no longer be pursuing them.
But na lie! Iro nla ni. His spirit will fight. His spirit will not rest and his spirit will torment his killers until they openly confess . Many years ago , a man went to church to confess of killing his wife after he was tormented by her spirit. He said he had been battling with the spirit of the woman he killed over 20years. Imagine how the Yahoo Boys go insane when their time were up. Let killers of Elerewe be visiting the Marabouts, Wolis, Aalfaas and Juju men but their conscience will forever torment them. Let them ask Judas Iscariot how it is. After betraying Jesus Christ with the reward of 30 shekels of silver, he regretted. His Spirit was tormented. He went to drop the 30 shekels of silver in the House of God but the rest is history . He later went to commit suicide.
Those who plotted , those who participated, those who were briefed beforehand , those who kept the secret,those who know the truth but hide it, those who were privy to the assassination will by God’s grace witness their children’s death .

When you exercise patience and with the fear of God sit down and pick up the alphabets and add them together therein you find their names . Yes! the killers and those who mastermind the killing will forever regret their actions. Yes they must have finished spending their blood money but their children’s and generation will forever be doomed. As they have turned the children of Elerewe to fatherless children and turned his wives to widows so shall the sword they used on him will never depart from their families forever. To those who summoned courage to kill a man for one reason or the other will become Vagabonds and fugitives like Cain who killed Abel his brother . May the Yoruba god of iron soak those who killed Elerewe in blood. May Aíyélalá smite the killers and and destroy them. Yes, they have murdered sleep and will forever have insomnia. They have murdered sleep and will ever remain sorrowful in their lives. We will all die but we don’t pray for untimely death. Tears and sorrows will never depart from the families of those who participated in Elerewe’s death. That day when his body is being lowered into the grave will be another day a sane man should take his life stock . That day one should ask himself if what happened to the late chief happens to him is this how everybody will be dancing round and not have the courage to speak up for him?. It is Ìlòrí Elerewe today but who next?. Mark it , a day of reckoning is coming . A day to harvest what you have planted is coming and you will not only reap what you sow but reap it abundantly. Let us wait and see. Let us wait and watch those who will be confessing like a tormented witch . What will happen after the chief ‘s burial? To some ,nothing go selè but more than méwá will selè and it may not be now after all God is not sleeping.
